Lead Poisoning in Korean Adults Caused by Herbal Medicine -Report of 4 Cares-

Abstract
|

|
We report 4 cases of lead poisoning caused by medication of herbal medicine (tablet
form) which contained lead. Analysis of the herb drags revealed 1.5-2mg% of lead.
All of the patients complained of acute colicky abdominal pain and showed various
degree of anemia. All cases exhibited typical basophilic stippling of RBCs in peripheral
blood smears. Measured lead levels of their urine and serum revealed abnormally high
value. A brief review of the related literatures is also presented.
